CAMBA strongly encouages all mountain bikers to attend Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Trail Management Plan open house

CAMBA Events: Cleveland Metroparks’ mountain bike trail is open!

cambaevents CAMBA is very excited to announce that the first legal mountain bike trail in Cuyahoga County is now open at Cleveland Metroparks’ Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation.  This trail is the result of thousands of hours of volunteer work by CAMBA and many more hours of work by staff members of Cleveland Metroparks.

As a direct result of the Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association, there are now high quality and environmentally sustainable trails available for mountain biking at West Branch State Park, Quail Hollow State Park, Lake Metroparks’ Hogback Ridge Property, Medina City Parks, and Cleveland Metroparks Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation.  Before CAMBA, these trails were either unsustainable or unappealing or they simply did not exist.

The trail is open to mountain biking, hiking, and trail running.  It is currently approximately 2 miles in length and future additions are a possibility.  It features a dedicated ˝ mile section of trail for beginners.  The remainder of the trail is designed for intermediate level mountain bikers and features rolling single-track in a unique, urban setting.  The trail is directly accessible from the Towpath Trail.

The trail is in the heart of the city and is only about 5 miles from the center of downtown Cleveland.  The mountain bike trailhead is located on the north side of the Canalway Vistors Center and is marked by a large sign (see picture below).  Click here for directions to the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation.

See you on the trail!

Think about it...

Rule of the Trail #2: Leave No Trace.  Practice low-impact cycling. Wet and muddy trails are more vulnerable to damage. When the trailbed is soft, consider other riding options. Stay on existing trails and don't create new ones.
